A variety of different bowings are introduced so that the pupil learns how to use and become familiar with every part of the bow. Every exercise and piece introduced in this book is designed to improve some aspect of technique.

Book 3 of this method introduces third position and new major and minor keys, in addition to fourth finger extensions and half position. The third position work is slow and thorough so there are numerous exercises, along with plenty of tuneful solos and duets.
