Turbocharged Distortion Perfection Released in 1987, the DS-2 Turbo Distortion remains a hugely popular BOSS compact pedal and builds on the legacy of the iconic DS-1 Distortion that debuted nearly a decade earlier. Prized for its versatility, the DS-2 features two distinctive distortion modes, Turbo I and Turbo II. Supplying a broad spectrum of tones, this classic stomp has been embraced by everyone from grunge icons to modern rock innovators. Whether you're looking for solid crunch or scorching gain, the DS-2 has you covered.

Turbo I: Dynamic Drive and Distortion

Versatile and articulate, the DS-2’s Turbo I mode offers a midrange-focused sound with enhanced low-end for a rich, full tone. Complementing dual-coil pickups and smoothing out single coils, it covers everything from gritty drive to full-tilt distortion. Lower gain settings provide optimized dynamic control that responds to picking intensity and technique—perfect for expressive, nuanced playing. Meanwhile, higher settings produce tight, thick distortion that helps you cut through mixes with power and confidence.

Turbo II: Punch, Power, and Precision

The DS-2’s celebrated Turbo II mode is a unique high-gain distortion voice with a resonant midrange boost that brings power, impact, and precision to your playing. At mid-gain settings, it provides a balanced lead voice that’s ideal for nearly any musical style. When you crank things to the max, you can easily dish up massive tones for punishing heavy riffs and soaring solos.

Complete Color Control

The DS-2 features a discrete analog circuit design with exceptionally low noise, even at high-gain settings. An active Tone knob shapes both high and low frequencies, providing a diverse sonic palette that goes from bright and percussive to smooth and velvety. Use the onboard two-way switch to select Turbo modes. Or attach an optional external footswitch via the Remote jack for effortless hands-free control. Great for switching between rhythm and lead, this feature unlocks the pedal’s full performance power.
